Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know my opal is real?
We guarantee your opal is 100% authentic and completely natural. We purchase direct from the Australian opal mines and offer some of the best quality opals in the world. We only sell solid opals, rather than doublets or triplets, meaning your opal is a solid stone all the way through (rather than a ‘slice’). Opal Nation is a listed member of the Opal Association of Australia (membership number OAM 306), the leading industry body in Australian opals, and we are bound to adhere to the Association’s code of conduct. All of our opals come with a signed Certificate of Authenticity providing detailed specifications of your purchase.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes! You can enjoy your opal now, and pay later. Opal Nation offers Afterpay, whereby you can pay for your opal or opal jewellery in four easy installments. It’s so easy to do! Once you have selected your beautiful opal and proceeded to the online ‘check-out’, you will be given the Afterpay option.
Do you ship to any country?
Yes! Opal Nation offers shipping to all countries. All shipments are registered, and sent via Australia Post or FedEx. Each comes with a tracking code that is emailed to you once dispatched. Find out more about our shipping policy.
Which is the most valuable type of opal that you sell?
Most people in the opal industry would agree that black opal is one of the most valuable types of opal, however there is far more involved when valuing an opal (read The Value of Australian Opal). ‘Value’ can be down to individual interpretation, and at the end of the day, the most valuable thing is that YOU personally love your opal.
How do I measure my ring size?
If unable to go to a jewellery store for a ring measurement, it can easily be done at home. Measure your ring size with these steps:
Wrap string or paper around the base of your chosen finger;
Mark the point where the ends meet with a pen;
Measure the string or paper with a ruler (mm);
Pick the closest measurement on the ring size chart to find your ring size:
I’ve seen a ring I like, but it’s not my size. Can it be resized?
Yes! The vast majority of rings can be resized up to 2 - 4 sizes. We recommend you contact your local jeweller or jewellery store who will be able to assist, or you can contact our recommended jeweller.
